The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics recommends that Americans get a daily fiber intake of 20-35 grams from plant foods, including both soluble and insoluble fiber. Is Benefiber® powder flavored?
Benefiber® Original powder is taste-free and can be used in liquids (except carbonated beverages) and soft foods without changing the taste or texture.
In what foods and beverages can Benefiber® powder be used?
You can mix Benefiber® powder into any hot or cold beverage such as water, coffee, or juice; into soft foods such as applesauce, pudding or yogurt; or cook fiber-rich recipes with it for such foods as muffins, sauces or soups, and it won't affect the taste or consistency. Benefiber® powder is not recommended for carbonated beverages.
Does cooking with Benefiber® powder alter the effects of the product?
You can cook with Benefiber® without altering the beneficial effects of the fiber and without changing the taste or consistency of the food.
How long will Benefiber® stay fresh?
Benefiber® has a shelf life of 2 years. Store at a controlled room temperature of 20-25ºC (68–77ºF). Protect from moisture. Be sure to check each Benefiber® package for additional information and for expiration date.
Is Benefiber® safe?
Benefiber® is generally well-tolerated and has an excellent safety profile.
Does wheat dextrin contain gluten?
Benefiber® powder contains less than 20 ppm of gluten and is therefore considered "gluten-free," based on the FDA definition of less than 20 ppm. However, people who experience gluten intolerance should not consume any products, including Benefiber, that contain any level of gluten unless otherwise directed by their doctor.
